In development for iPhone and Android
Music that follows your route.
TrackX is a running app that changes the song when you reach each part of your course. Runners build the courses, so the playlist fits the place.
How it works
-
Find a course
Search by city, state or zip, or use your location. Courses are grouped by city and rated by other runners.
-
Start your run
Press start and go. TrackX follows your location along the course while you run.
-
The music changes with the route
Each zone on a course has its own song. Reach the zone and the song switches. Skip part of the route and the playlist jumps to where you are.
Build a course from a run you know
A course is a route with zones along it and a song for each zone. Anyone can make one and share it.
-
Tap it onto the map
Drop a zone wherever the music should change, in the order you run them.
-
Walk it
Add a zone at the spot you are standing while you walk or jog the route.
-
Import from Garmin Connect
Bring in a GPX or FIT file. The route is drawn for you and zones are laid along it every quarter mile, half mile, mile or two miles.
-
Name it and score it
Give each zone a name, like a landmark, and pick the song runners hear when they get there.
Rated and reviewed by runners
Every course shows a star rating and written reviews, so you can tell whether the songs land where they should before you run it.
★★★★★
“The song change at the top of the hill is exactly where you need it.”
Use the music you already have
Courses store songs by title and artist, so the same course plays on whichever service you use. TrackX is still in development, and so is support for each service.
-
Preview clips
Works today

Questions
Can I get TrackX now?
Not yet. TrackX is in development and is not in the App Store or Google Play. The code is public on GitHub if you want to follow along.
What does TrackX do with my location?
To list courses near you, the app sends the area you are browsing to the TrackX server. During a run, your location is used on your phone to decide when to change the song.
Do I need an account?
No sign-up. The first time you publish a course or write a review, the app creates an anonymous account so your courses and reviews stay yours. Browsing needs no account.
What happens if I leave the course?
The music keeps playing. When you enter another zone, the playlist moves to that zone's song, wherever it is on the course.
